Digital consultancy that gives you a straight answer.
A straight answer from someone who builds the thing, before you spend money on technology.
Independent digital consultancy from Northern Ireland for founders, small teams and organisations who need a straight answer before they spend money on technology. One experienced person in your corner, not an agency pitch deck.
Invisible Building is a solo-led studio based between Belfast and Moira. For well over a decade we have designed and built websites, Shopify stores, web apps and MVPs for brands, startups and charities across Northern Ireland, the UK and Ireland. Consultancy is how we share what that work has taught us with businesses that don’t need us to build the whole thing. They just need help deciding what to build, what to buy, and what to leave alone.
People with a decision to make.
- Owner-managed businesses whose website, store or internal tools have grown by accident and now need a plan.
- Founders weighing up an idea who want a realistic view of what it will cost, how long it will take and whether it needs custom code at all.
- Marketing and operations teams who own a Shopify store, a CRM and a pile of apps and subscriptions, and suspect half of them aren’t earning their keep.
- Charities and community organisations planning a digital project or applying for funding. See our dedicated digital consultancy for charities.
What we help with
Six kinds of question we get asked most, and can answer from having built the thing.
-
Digital audits & roadmaps
A plain-English review of your website, store, tools and data: what’s working, what’s costing you, and a prioritised list of what to do about it over the next 6–12 months.
-
Platform & build decisions
Shopify or something else? Theme or custom? App, integration or manual process? We’ve built on most of the options and will tell you honestly which fits.
-
AI & automation discovery
Where AI and automation genuinely save your team time, and where they don’t. Practical prototypes, not slideware. See how we use AI in our own studio.
-
Tool & systems integration
Connecting Shopify, email, CRM, spreadsheets, Notion, Airtable and the rest so data goes in once and shows up where you need it.
-
UX & conversion reviews
Walking through your customer journey the way a real customer would, and fixing the bits where they give up.
-
Founder & team advisory
Regular calls for people who want a technical sounding board without hiring a CTO.
Remove complexity. Don’t add it.
- Discovery call. A short, free conversation to understand what you’re trying to do and whether we’re the right people to help. Get in touch to arrange one, or book a 30-minute consultation if you want to get straight into specifics.
- A written plan. Either a fixed-scope piece of work (an audit, a roadmap, a one-day workshop) or a block of flexible consultancy hours. You will know the cost before you commit.
- Do the work, or help you do it. Some clients take the plan and run. Others ask us to implement it through our Shopify growth partnership or a project build. Both are fine.

You talk to the person doing the thinking.
There is no account manager translating your problem into a proposal, and no incentive to recommend a bigger build than you need. We have spent over a decade being the people who build the thing after the consultants leave, so our advice is shaped by what actually ships.
You can read about how we work, see who we are, or look at the work that made us go all-in on Shopify.
Asked often.
Do you only work with Shopify businesses?
No. Shopify is our specialism and where most of our build work happens, but digital consultancy covers websites, web apps, internal tools, automation and digital strategy for any small organisation. If your question is specifically about a store, start with Shopify consultancy.
Where are you based, and do you work remotely?
We are based in Northern Ireland, between Belfast and Moira, and most consultancy happens on video calls. We are happy to meet in person around Belfast, Lisburn and Craigavon, and we work with clients across the UK, Ireland and further afield.
How much does consultancy cost?
An initial discovery conversation is free. After that, a 30-minute consultation call is £50, a one-hour review is £125, a full consultation day starts from £459, and fixed-scope work is priced up front. Flexible advisory time is billed in blocks of hours. We’ll always tell you the number before you commit.
Can you also build what you recommend?
Yes. That’s the difference between us and a pure advisory firm. If it makes sense, we can move straight from the roadmap into a build or an ongoing growth partnership. There is never any obligation to.
Do you work with charities and community groups?
Yes, and we have done since 2015. Tech for good is one of our three pillars alongside web design and e-commerce. See our Tech for Good work and the dedicated charity consultancy page.
