Belfast Design Meetup

Why we attended

We’re attending Belfast Design Meetup because it’s exactly the kind of space that helps the local design community stay sharp, curious, and connected.

We’re longtime fans of Rick Monro, having followed his thinking and talks since the UX Bookclub days. His work around behaviour change and product thinking has consistently influenced how we approach user experience beyond screens — into systems, habits, and real-world outcomes.

The wider lineup also looks genuinely strong. Talks from Gabriela Aurora Statie on agentic design, and Annette Nugent on craft, theory, and tenacity, reflect the kinds of conversations we value: thoughtful, practical, and rooted in lived experience rather than tools or trends.

Events like this matter because they create room for open discussion, shared learning, and cross-discipline thinking — designers, developers, product people, and anyone interested in building better user experiences, all in the same room. That mix is where the best ideas usually start.

About This Event

Belfast Design Meetup is a free after-work event for designers to learn, connect, and grow together. Starting at 5:30 PM, we’ll have talks, discussions, and real-world experience sharing in Belfast City Centre at the stunning MCS Group event space.

Talks

1️⃣ What “Agentic” Actually Means - And Why Designers Need to Own It by Gabriela Aurora Statie, Lead Product Designer at Locate a Locum.

2️⃣ Theory and Tenacity Over Tools and Titles by Annette Nugent, Staff UX Designer at Rapid7.

3️⃣ The Business of Behavior Change by Rick Monro, Head of Product Design at Slice.

Everyone is welcome, including Experience Designers, Product Designers, all types of Designers, Developers, Managers, Marketers, Researchers, and all UX-related professionals. It is not just for designers but for anyone interested in creating better user experiences and learning from one another.

The venue is the MCS Group office event space. We thank MCS Group for hosting the event and providing beers and soft drinks.

It is a space for open conversation, fresh ideas, and community learning. Join us to meet other designers, exchange insights, and get inspired.

The event takes place on the first Thursday of every month (except January).
